About HHI Communities
Hilton Head Island is well-known for being one of the ultimate vacation spots for everyone who loves beaches, tennis, golfing, fishing, and a wide range of water sports—not to mention outstanding restaurants and superb shopping. While this defines Hilton Head Island as a whole, there are actually many distinct Hilton Head communities which make up this whole. Whether you live on Hilton Head Island or are visiting as a guest, each Hilton Head community has something special to offer.
Sea Pines Plantation was the 1st of the modern Hilton Head Island communities and served as the model for the subsequent communities. It is the biggest of all the Hilton Head communities, and supports two harbours, four miles of beaches, the Sea Pines Racquet Club—home to some of the greatest tennis training programs in the United States—and Harbour Town Golf Links, where you can play on the same Golf course used by the pros during the PGA tour.
For those curious in history, there are two Hilton Head communities waiting to be discovered. When Spanish explorers first arrived on Hilton Head, they landed in the future home of the Spanish Wells community. Although it is a private community, it is perfect for those who want to get away from their hectic schedules and get away from it all. The Port Royal Community is home to the original landing site of William Hilton, the explorer the island is named after. This community includes both a private residential neighborhood as well as a public resort area for guests.
There are many other Hilton Head Island communities just waiting to be explored. Hilton Head Plantation offers outstanding beaches, bike trails, four different outstanding golf courses, boating, world-class tennis courts, and two different nature conservancy centers. Windmill Harbour is the ideal destination for boating and water sports enthusiasts, offering direct access to the famous Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Other famous communities include Palmetto Dunes, Indigo Run, Wexford, and Shipyard Plantation. Each of these Hilton Head Island communities has something remarkable to offer, and collectively they formulate the total Hilton Head experience.
